Friday Evening

While Sweet Pea and I napped, Grandma Trudy and Ross took care of some real estate paperwork and rented a scooter from an off-site company. The scooter will be delivered to our cabin and can be used all week. It should much sleeker and more maneuverable than the one's that
Disney rents inside the parks.
There was a brief thunderstorm during the afternoon and it was still a little rainy when we left for dinner. We were headed to our favorite restaurant, The California Grill at the Contemporary Resort.
If there is any thunder or lightening, Disney is supposed to shut down the boat transportation. So there was a lot of indecision about whether to risk taking the boat or taking the bus (which would be much slower), but we ended up headed towards the boat... Mostly due to a lack of direction sense on Ross' part.

Outside the Contemporary, there was a really cool topiary of Mickey Mouse.

This was the fantastic view from our table-side window at the California grill.

Ross ordered mushroom gnocchi for an appatizer.

I had a rock shrimp salad with wasabi dressing, which was unbelievably delicious. I had the same thing last year and it was so good that I wanted to get it again. Trudy got the same thing.

For dinner, Ross ordered the lamb. I had a soft shelled crab with some very tasty blue corn polenta.
For dessert, Amelia ordered a cute take on sushi that was made out of Swedish Fish, Rice Krispees and chocolate syrup for dipping sauce. It even came with kid friendly chop sticks.

I ordered a really rich and creamy molton center chocolate cake with coffee ice cream.

Ross got the chocolate croissant bread pudding, which was okay, but not as good as mine. Lol.

Grandma Trudy got a banana napoleon, which I didn't try, but she reported was very sweet. *
After diner, Sweet Pea wanted nothing more than to ride the monorail. So while everyone else went out on the deck of the restaurant to watch the nightly fireworks, we rode the monorail around the park. The most exciting part for her was being able to stand up and hold the rail while we were moving.

Once again at the Contemperary we made our way back to the boat. On the dock we saw Peter Pan and tried to get in line to meet him. While we were waiting, a woman approached us and said, "Peter Pan is only here for private party and not for the public.". I said "Oh, Sorry. I didn't know," and pulled Sweet Pea away. Of course poor Sweet Pea started to get a little upset and asked, "Why can't Peter Pan meet me? What is a private party?" I kneeled down and started consoling her about it when Peter Pan's handler came over to us and whispered to me, "Meet us by the hotel stairs in 5 minutes.". We walked to the stairs and on Peter Pan's way out he stopped to meet Sweet Pea. It was so nice of the handler and Peter Pan to go out of their way for us like that.

It was nearing 11:30pm when we got back to Fort Wilderness, but we had to go pick up the scooter from the front office. The scooter doesn't have any rear lights on it, so Grandma Trudy was almost impossible to see on the road driving back to our cabin. She couldn't hear us yelling at her to get on the sidewalk so we decided to just follow behind her in the golf cart for the half mile or so it took to get to our cabin.

Sweet Pea was very excited that she got to stay up past midnight: The rest of us much less so. :)
